City of Kellogg

Why do I pay two sewer bills?

One bill you receive is from the South Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River Sewer District. This charge is for treating the sewage once it reaches the treatment plant.

The second bill you receive is from the City of Kellogg. This charge is for maintenance of the main sewer lines that your individual lines hook into. These main lines carry your sewage to the treatment plant. In July of 2002 the City of Kellogg implemented a sewer maintenance fee for the repair, operation and maintenance of these main sewer lines. There are several areas where new sewer lines are needed and the City plans to apply for grants to help with their replacement. It is hoped that some of the money raised through this fee will help with match money for future grants.

Rates are as follows:

Residential $5.00

Commercial-Small $10.00

Commercial-Large, Churches & Schools $13.00*

Industrial $16.00

The sewer fee is billed monthly and appears on the same bill as your sanitation charges.
